What we do, how we do it, and why we do it

The Church Today

The most important job in the entire world was given to us by the greatest person who has ever lived – Jesus. The mission of the church is not a mystery. It is to make disciples. To accomplish this at Liberty Heights we do much more than simply offer programming or services on Sunday with hope that more people show up than did the previous Sunday.

The mission of the church is eternally important because of this, our efforts cannot be random or lacking strategic intent. This is our strategy. This is what we do, how we do it and why we do it. This is what we are asking you to invest your time, talent and treasure into.

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:19-20

Our Mission

We are ONE CHURCH with multiple locations, whose mission is to make disciples who GATHER, GROW, GIVE and GO. We do this by gathering as a church each week, growing in smaller groups, and giving & going with local, national, and international leaders across the world to share the message of Jesus.

Core Values

As a church, WE VALUE:
The authority and sufficiency of Scripture
A culture of dependent prayer
The priority of relationships in making disciples
Involvement over attendance.

Making disciples who Gather, Grow, Give & Go

Our Discipleship Path begins with worship and culminates with giving and going to leverage our resources for multiplication.

Gather faithfully

Most often, people enter our discipleship path through our primary gathering environment – one of our worship services. While the worship service is a great starting point, it should not be the stopping point when it comes to taking next steps. Our desire is to see everyone who attends our worship gatherings take a next step into a growing environment.

grow relationally

Our desire is that people would move from our primary gathering environment—our worship service—into our primary growing environment: Groups. These smaller and more relational environments encourage open trust and ensure that no one struggles alone.

give generously

The mark of a truly mature and growing disciple is that the individual gives to carry the gospel further, faster. Practically speaking, this happens as people give of their time by serving in a ministry and give of their financial treasures to generously invest in God’s Kingdom endeavors.

go urgently

Too often, we assume that discipleship equates to learning new Bible information. According to Scripture, discipleship is about multiplication. Learning without going is education, not discipleship.

Impact

How do we know if we are effectively carrying out our mission? How do we know if one area of ministry is working, or another area needs more attention? How can we accurately evaluate our impact? How do we guard from attendance and offering being the only metrics of success?

Tangible goals for intangible, eternal results: Our measurable goals serve as a diagnostic dashboard to help assess the health of our ministry in each facet of our mission statement.

Measurables

5-10% growth in annual membership
10% of our membership participates in an international mission trip
or local mission opportunity.
10% of our total receipts support mission efforts
5% of our average attendance are baptized each year (Ex: average 1000=50 baptisms per year)
5-10% annual growth in worship gatherings
80% of adult members participate in groups
80% of members connect to a ministry
75% of member households give
at least $1000 per year

Next Steps

To move people through our Discipleship Path, we have created a Next Steps process, as well as ensuring a growing community for every stage of life.
